I don’t usually rant here on my blog, but today I’m making an exception.

I’ve never been a big fan of Paul McCartney (I always thought Lennon was the genius behind the Beatles), but now I have a legitimate reason for my dislike. It seems that Paul recently fired some of his road crew because he caught them eating hamburgers. For those of you who don’t know, Paul is a serious, committed Vegan — which is fine. I have no problem with his dietary choices (although I think he’s missing out some tasty vittles!). I DO have a problem with him trying to force his views on others. It is interesting how sometimes those who claim to be so open-minded and tolerant, are actually just the opposite.
It is somewhat ironic….. Paul appeared in an episode of The Simpsons called “Lisa The Vegetarian.” Here is an exchange between Lisa, Apu, and Paul:
Lisa: You don’t eat cheese, Apu?
Apu: No I don’t eat any food that comes from an animal.
Lisa: Ohh, then you must think I’m a monster!
Apu: Yes indeed I do think that. But I learned a long time ago Lisa to tolerate others rather than forcing my beliefs on them. You know, you can influence people without badgering them always. It’s like Paul’s song, “Live and let live.”
Paul: Actually, it was “Live and Let Die.”
Apu: Well, whatever, whatever. It had a good rhythm.

I think Paul needs to listen to Apu.
Ted Nugent has a great column addressing this very thing. Read it HERE.

A link to a Ted Nugent story on your blog? I’m so impressed. You are cool. I love ole Ted.
Not eating hamburgers is un-American….oh wait..nevermind!
If I had to pick, I would pick Paul over Lennon. I think that Lennon is very overrated and if he had not been murdered, I don’t think we would have heard much more from him. Besides Imgaine, did Lennon really do much after the Beatles compared to Paul and George?
I like Paul in the Beatles but not solo.
I’ve always thought that Lennon’s album “Double Fantasy” was better than ALL of McCartney’s solo work. I think if he had not been overly influenced by Yoko, his work would have been even better. Paul’s music (to me) was too much pop, and not enough rock.
But that’s just my opinion. I know a lot of people really like Paul’s music, and I respect that. I was just bothered by his militant-vegetarianism.
You’re not bothered by the worse song ever written: Imgaine?
I do agree that Yoko had too much influence. I really liked George Harrisons stuff, esp with the Wilburys. BTW, they re-released that first album on CD(it’s been out of print for a long time).
Nothing beats Ringo stuff though, esp his hit movie “Caveman”. lol
Give me a break. Well we know that others can be judgmental too.
