He is right, but will not get an audience. His message has no power to wrest contracts or aid from the powers that be, so the message will be ignored. Though Jesse Jackson started out years ago with operation PUSH, which had a good message (teaching young blacks that they were valuable, among other things), and though he OCCASIONALLY rises above partisan politics to get behind a movement which is truly motivated by his ideals (a good and respectable thing), he still spends 90% of his time just following the money. He has said the same things to black churches that Bill Cosby said for everyone to hear, but doesn’t want that to be known outside the black community, from what I can see.
Walter Williams is a good micro-economist, and has good insight into the problems that vex our American society, but when he speaks, he is mainly preaching to the choir. Most others don’t even know who he is, because he is not quoted as a “leader in the black community” by the papers when they need to quote a “leader in the black community”. They go to JJ, Kwase Mfume (sp?), or Al Sharptongue. So there you go…
