I am very much out of shape and need to start running again (a few years ago I was an avid runner, logging between 20 and 30 miles a week). Today may be the day I begin the long road back. I really enjoy running (once I’m back into shape) and have found that it is the only way I can keep my weight down. I’m not about to diet — I especially avoid the fad diets (like Atkins). Any diet that eliminates bread is just wrong (and borderline sinful). I’ve found that if I run on a regular basis, I don’t really have to worry about how I eat. I’ve always wanted to run a marathon (I’ve run two half marathons on two different occasions, but I don’t think that counts). I’ll let you know how my return to running goes. If I survive it…..

I have to admit I hate running, and I caved and began a modified Atkins diet a while ago. I am down 10 pounds, and I don’t avoid all carbs. I guess I will have to settle for walking or some other aerobic exercise. Blessings on your return to running. While you are at, if you could log a couple of miles for me, and e-mail the weight you lose. Boy, wouldn’t that be nice! Some e-mail attachment.
